Education and Youth

“… Tell us of pleasant things, prophesy illusions.” – Isaiah 30:10

I must admit that during our two year Bible reading program I fell a bit behind during our reading of the Psalms. For whatever reason I found Psalms difficult to read, so I got out of my daily reading routine. After a couple months I was able to jump ahead to finish with everyone. So now I am back completing what I skipped.

I just came across the above passage from Isaiah. I just love the phrase “prophecy illusion” that Isaiah uses to describe Judah’s “head in the sand” reaction to the threat of the Assyrians. How often are we like that – only wanting to hear of pleasant things rather than facing the “hard truth”?

With youth Sunday School over for the summer, the Board of Education is already thinking about the next school year. By most accounts Fellowship has enjoyed very successful education programs for many years. However success can often breed complacency, which itself could lead to some missed opportunities. To help avoid that, I’d like to hear the “hard truth” from everyone – parents, students, and teachers. I’d like to hear your thoughts on “the good, the bad, and the ugly” about the entire Sunday School Program – the curriculum, the openings, the Christmas Program, the classrooms, everything!

While I won’t guarantee any single thought will get implemented, I will guarantee that every thought will be considered and combined with the other thoughts as we develop our future Education plans. Thank you in advance for your input.
